This learning material includes information on the usage of new technologies within the field of Information Technology. Using the Case Study Teaching Method, students will recognize these technologies and know how to integrate them in real terms so as to produce and design applications in these fields. Students have the possibility to engage in real complex situations to design and develop various applications for small devices which have now a special role in the industry, considering that small devices nowadays are subject of innovation and scientific work. In this line, the course that will be subject of science-society collaboration which will focus on the elements of programming in Android powered small devices, to build different applications for the usage of practitioner stakeholders. This knowledge would be a great advantage for students to successfully engage in the job market real situations by providing with them a transdisciplinary approach to address real challenges of customers.

This short draft describes the teaching resources which will be used in the IT subject taught at UET. Using an innovative approach, this course tries to consider as a case study a real situation dragged from a business stakeholder which is presented to students (by the latter) in order to request concrete solutions (feedback forms) which respond to business needs.  It is already known that the feedback from actual and prospective clients is one of the most important things for a business owner. While, the best way to get feedback from clients is to provide them with feedback forms. It not only helps the business to know the current progress in the market but also empowers the latter to plan future prospects. Due to booming technology and internet marketing, the importance of feedback forms has been highly increased. Internet has become the foremost tool for promoting business and branding. Along with that, the feedback form helps clients and entrepreneurs to communicate with each other, while business get to know the opinion and preference of customers. Most of the companies use the means of feedback forms to draw the data about the sales, performance, drawbacks, and use the date to set their future goals. Feedback forms also help businesses in specifying the target audience and make the market work in a sustainable way.

 

Case Study

From the societal stakeholders point of view, the Albanian business are not aware of the new technologies they can use to get feedback from their customers and maximize their profit in a sustainable way. Their major part of the information is acquired from their employees. This is a very limited source of information for getting the real feedback from the businesses, customers, or possible customers. Also, this kind of feedback is probably biased and not 100% real. While, more and more people are using their smart phones to get to the internet and get all the information they need. This makes a great opportunity for businesses to reach them through applications build for smart phones.

From the students’ point of view, the application of the case study teaching method is an innovative way to get to know real situations of business as applied in the concrete stakeholders’ situations. Using a case study of societal stakeholders, students will know not only to translate the needs and requests of the businesses into digital solution, but they will also get in touch to the challenges faced from societal actors which apply their expertize outside the auditorium. Students learn on basis of real business life case studies, how to produce a mobile application of feedback forms as a framework of the development of businesses capacities.

Integration of Social Stakeholders
Business companies at the regional level are involved in the seminar as active partners to present their company and the needs they face with regard to issues such as: feedback from customers, maximization of profit in a sustainable way based on the updated market needs, etc. The stakeholders from the businesses benefit from the collaboration considering that they receive a creative perspective which tries to expand the limited source they have in their disposal as far as the collection of information is concerned.
While, students on the other hand have the possibility to get in direct contact with businessmen and experience real challenges and real situations which are needed to be addressed with the production of the digital application.
Students and stakeholders address the challenges together and try to elaborate feasible solutions.
Strength
–Students learn how to develop a digital application (feedback form) on the basis of concrete needs which are presented by societal stakeholders as a case study
– The model built by students will be afterwards the subject of discussion together with the stakeholders from society field in order to improve it further and adjust to the real needs.
– The model may be replicated for other stakeholders according to their customised requests
–Students learn how to understand the stakeholder’s ideas and needs and translate them into the digital application (feedback form) by providing concrete solutions to their challenges.
– Students think of their own opportunities to develop a business idea/plan based on technology usage
- Students get to reflect on their perspectives, values and skills during their project.
–Stakeholders benefit from a model which can be further developed into a sophisticated application for mobile phones (feedback forms) which helps them enhance their business opportunities in a sustainable way
Weakness
– The business challenges used as a case study may be very complicated for students to understand and digest the complicated information of a real case situation
– Occasional issues of confidentiality from the side of society stakeholders may be a sensitive situation.

-Learn how to integrate real challenges into the digital application customised for a certain business
- Get hands-on experience from the business in an overall context, trying to adjust all the company profile and development structure into the process of conceptualizing the feedback form

Work of lecturer: 1 week -Identification of suitable companies that are seeking to develop the digital application model of feedback form and are eager to provide their company as a study case 1 week - Work with the stakeholder to prepare the study case, prior to the presentation to students Work with the students: 4weeks -1 week will be a detailed discussion between lecturer, stakeholder and students on the study case; -2 weeks students work with the group project and try to produce the model of the application; -1 week the final presentation
