Renewable energy - the importance of relevant policies and potential resources'(Resource ID: 312)

There is a lack of knowledge of the importance of the renewable energy in general, what are the potentials in our country and what are the policies and legislation connected with those resources.

Renewable energy is a very important topic for the entire region. The policy makers are aiming to achieve 25 % of electrical energy produced from renewable sources by the year 2020 in Kosovo, which is in line with EU strategies and above some of the regional countries. The potentials of renewable energy such as wind energy, small hydropower,  biomass and from PV (photo voltaic) solar panel are also very important for reducing the  current  pollution from  coal thermo power plants and also for  sustainable development.  Through this module there will be an increase of the awareness for the resources that exists and some of the potential resources that may be considered.  Wind farms, and small hydropower plants have potential in the region, and increasing the awareness for those resources which will benefit students and also stakeholders, NGO’s and businesses. There will be a transfer of knowledge of the existing policies, their relevance and importance about the environment and green energy. Also some case studies of potential resources and site visit of hydropower plants.

Contributions of this module will be on pontentials and the resources that exist  from which we can produce clean energy and save the envirnmont in which we are living.
