Sustainability of the balance sheet(Resource ID: 316)

Learning takes place on how to compile and implement the balance sheet, evaluating and categorizing the wealth, obligations and capital. The implementation of the balance sheet by an accountant in all businesses helps the sustainable development and reflection of the real state of the business in general. After the lecture, students should be able to prepare and choose the tasks related to balance sheet and the draft questionnaire of the balance sheet for the survey of the enterprises. This research will be presented in class and enterprises which have not given proper answers on the preparation of balance sheet or lack knowledge of the balance sheet will be pointed out. The corporation will collaborate, giving advice to the students on the preparation of balance sheet, and employ students in those enterprises if they have the room.

The course aims to make students more skillful in the preparation of  the balance sheet. They need to go through the categories together with illustrative examples, trying to apply them in our businesses. To make the course simpler and comprehensive, the illustrative examples will be with the scale, where the right part of the scale will represent the active (wealth of business, including figures like home, car, building, land, etc. While the left side of the scale will represent the passive (obligations and capital of the company). Lacking any figure, will illustrate its inequality. The result will be demonstrated through exercises, when the students themselves will prepare balance sheets. When the students will understand this process, the next phase of the course will be the case study and the preparation of the investigation from the side of the students in various businesses. They will see in real life how businesses prepare the balance sheets. In case they have did implemented it correctly, or have not compiled one at all, then the student can come up with his ideas, putting in practice his/her knowledge. The mingling of students with businesses will influence the deepening of their knowledge and encouragement for further work. The final phase of the course is the presentation of the achieved results by the students, starting from the main idea to the sustainable application of balance sheets in various businesses.

Integration of Social Stakeholders
For the preparation of the case studies, the students should investigate the businesses, more concretely, the financial managers or accountants related to the preparation of the balance sheet and its sustainability during various periods of time. Each group of students would choose the business that they want to visit . The purpose of this visit is to obtain information on whether they have prepared a balance sheet and if they have been prepared in compliance with IAS and IFRS. These questions run by students will be compiled in the form of questionnaires after the lecture in collaboration with the lecturer. This questionnaire will be the same for all businesses. Before the visit, they will check the businesses are on the list of businesses from the University. Lacking the preparation of the balance sheet and professional staff in businesses, will make the ideas and proposals of the students useful. Capable and outstanding students might also be lucky to find a job or to become interns in the national businesses.
